So you just played your first game of airsoft using a cheap spring based rifle bought from Wal-Mart or were using a friend’s A.E.G. (Automatic Electric Gun) on the field and now you want to trade up. So you get to the store and then realize that you have no idea what you want to buy! Rest assured dear reader because if there is a will, there is a way. The first thing you need to ask yourself before dropping money on a new weapon is “How do I want to play”. Exactly what do you want to do once you are in the game?

Do you want to play on the field with an assault rifle or in a warehouse with an SMG (Sub-Machine Gun)? Are you a lone wolf and like the idea of waiting in the grass with your sniper picking off enemies from the distance? Perhaps you want to set up shop with a light machine gun and lay down covering fire for your squad mates. There is a wide arrange of weapons and armaments that can be tailored to your personal preferences. Be practical though; you most likely will not need a short-barreled sub-machine gun in a wide open forest. Conversely you won’t get much use out of a sniper rifle in a cramped warehouse.

Now the second thing you need to figure out is your budget. If you are just getting into the sport the best recommendation is an electric M4. This gun is made by nearly every major airsoft manufacturing company out there and has a vast selection of spare parts, accessories, and magazines available for it. Plus it is the easiest gun to upgrade both externally and internally. This way even if the gun was sub-par pre purchase you can always upgrade it to make shoot up there with the best of them. It makes it a perfect choice for someone just starting out.

This doesn’t mean however you are limited to just that one gun. Most popular models and gun types are made with varying degrees of quality. Meaning if you wish to get an M249 light-machine gun right off the bat you will be able to find something to fit your needs. Just remember to do your own research on the gun and the manufacturing company before making your first purchase. It can be a bit of a hassle to look all the information up before buying. Doing this will make your first airsoft gun purchase a happy and worthwhile investment.

When you are in the market to purchase wholesale quantities of airsoft guns, there are a few things every retailer should consider. Here are some tips we have found useful to our customers over the years.

Know Your Customer Base and Stick to What Sells

Understanding your customer needs and interpreting historical stock data is one of the key areas to concentrate on before you buy. This keeps inventory levels in line with your buying base and avoids overstock situations. Know your top sellers and keep an adequate level of merchandise on hand and on order, especially throughout the heavy buying seasons. Our wholesale specialists will work with you to help identify your needs. Since we offer one of the largest varieties of wholesale airsoft guns, we can easily ensure your best sellers are always on hand.

Assign Adequate Storage

Space is an issue for every retailer. Proper display areas and adequate storage space is a must have. There are times when finding storage space will become a challenge, especially when you are coming into a busy sales period and have increased inventory to meet the demand. If space is an issue for you during these times, you may want to look into renting storage, either from a neighboring retailer or a commercial storage company. You may even be able to barter for space with a neighboring retailer who has their peak sales period opposite yours; this can save money and build relationships within the community.

Buying Wholesale Saves Money in the End

Some smaller retailers may look to buy stock from local sporting goods or outdoor stores because they assume it will be cheaper than buying from online wholesalers, but these large sporting goods stores have much higher overhead than online wholesalers, forcing them to offer the same airsoft guns and equipment at a much higher price. Retailers may also find that their local sporting goods retailer does not offer a full line of airsoft products so they find themselves buying from different sources. This is not cost effective and can often lead to out of stock situations. Purchasing all of your airsoft guns and gear in one place saves money and insures you have adequate stock at all times.

Stick With One Wholesaler

Retailers should look to purchase their wholesale airsoft guns from one source whenever possible. Building a relationship with one wholesaler has its advantages. You will be notified of specials and closeout pricing well before it is advertised online or through promotions, and you can often negotiate special pricing if your wholesaler knows you will be placing regular orders since they can better regulate their inventory levels. It also means you have a direct source to speak with when you are seeking out a specialty item or information on new items to be offered by the manufacturer.

These are just a few things to consider when purchasing your wholesale airsoft guns and gear, but we know that every customer is different. If you have specific questions or concerns, give us a call and let’s discuss your individual needs. We are sure that once you see the OnTarget difference, you will be a customer for life.
